As part of its mission to inspire and support young innovators, the Hive Incubator recently embarked on a dynamic outreach tour to engage with students from two leading institutions: the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA) and Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA).
These visits were more than just speaking engagements they were opportunities to spark creativity, share practical insights, and strengthen the bridge between academia and the entrepreneurial world. From keynote sessions and startup pitches to hands-on mentorship, Hive’s presence brought energy, encouragement, and real investment into the lives of studentpreneurs ready to take on the challenges of a rapidly evolving economy.
As part of its ongoing commitment to fostering innovation, entrepreneurship, and youth development in Akure, The Hive Incubator partnered with the Centre for Entrepreneurship at the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA) to deliver a hands-on learning experience embedded in the university’s renowned entrepreneurship curriculum (ENT).
This collaboration was designed to bridge the gap between classroom theory and real-world innovation, providing students with practical tools and exposure to the entrepreneurial ecosystem shaping the future of work in Nigeria.
A major highlight of the visit was a thought-provoking keynote session titled “Driving Economic Growth: The Role of Entrepreneurship and Innovation in Job Creation.” The session sparked vibrant discussions and challenged students to think creatively, act boldly, and envision themselves as drivers of economic change. It served as a powerful reminder that entrepreneurship isn't just about launching businesses; it's about transforming communities, creating jobs, and shaping the future through innovation and resilience.
With over 1000 students in attendance, Mr. Solomon Samuel, Startup Mentor at the Hive Incubator, delivered a compelling session that explored the realities of entrepreneurship in the 21st century. From startup case studies to innovation as a development tool, students gained actionable insights on transforming ideas into impact-driven ventures. The session encouraged critical thinking and challenged students to see entrepreneurship as a viable pathway for job creation and community growth. To maintain high energy and deepen engagement, the Hive team hosted an exciting quiz and game segment that tested students’ entrepreneurial thinking. Winners received cash prizes, free two-day access passes to The Hive Hub, and branded jotters and merchandise. The Hive Incubator team also engaged with FUTA’s Deputy Vice-Chancellor, the Director of the Centre for Entrepreneurship (Dr. Emidun), and newly elected members of the Student Union Executive Council. These conversations set the stage for deeper institutional collaboration, including structured programs and incubation support for student-led startups.
On June 14, the Hive Incubator brought entrepreneurial energy to Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA), as an official partner of the Business Pitch & Financial Summit, themed
“The Rise of Studentpreneurs: Navigating Capital, Creativity, and Competition in a Challenging Economy.”
The event was a vibrant convergence of ambition and innovation, where forward-thinking students, founders, and change-makers gathered to pitch ideas, exchange insights, and explore the future of entrepreneurship in Nigeria.
The Hive Incubator proudly sponsored the student business pitch competition, which saw 13 bold, student-led startups pitch their ideas with passion and purpose. After a competitive round of presentations, three outstanding winners emerged, securing a combined grant of ₦250,000, a testament to Hive’s commitment to investing in young visionaries and unlocking entrepreneurial potential on campus.
At its core, The Hive Incubator is more than a startup hub; it's a catalyst for change, a bridge between ideas and impact, and a champion of youth-led innovation. Through its campus engagements, strategic partnerships, and direct investment in student entrepreneurs, Hive is nurturing a new generation of leaders who are bold enough to build, brave enough to solve real problems, and equipped to drive Nigeria’s economic transformation.
As the journey continues, one thing is clear: the future belongs to those who create it and Hive Incubator is making sure Nigeria’s next-gen entrepreneurs are ready to lead the way.
